Jakarta

Jakarta, Indonesia’s massive capital, sits on the northwest coast of the island of Java. A historic mix of cultures Javanese, Malay, Chinese, Arab, Indian and European has influenced its architecture, language and cuisine. The old town, Kota Tua, is home to Dutch colonial buildings, Glodok (Jakarta’s Chinatown) and the old port of Sunda Kelapa, where traditional wooden schooners dock.

Indonesia

Indonesia, a Southeast Asian nation made up of thousands of volcanic islands, is home to hundreds of ethnic groups speaking many different languages. It is known for beaches, volcanoes, Komodo dragons and jungles sheltering elephants, orangutans and tigers. On the island of Java lies Indonesia’s vibrant, sprawling capital, Jakarta, and the city of Yogyakarta, known for gamelan music and traditional puppetry.

Detailed Itinerary

Day One Arrive Paro – Thimphu (2Nights) (Approx 65kms, 2 hrs drive)

  • Welcome to Bhutan.
  • On arrival at Paro Airport proceed by road to Thimphu (7,710 ft.) the capital city of Bhutan.
  • On arrival check in at the hotel.
  • Overnight at Thimphu.
  • Note: Indian nationals do not require any visa for Bhutan. A permit will be issued at the entry point on production of a passport or Voter ID and 04 passport size photographs.

Day Two Thimphu – City tour

  • After breakfast proceed to enjoy a city tour of Thimphu visiting the National Memorial Chorten a stupa dedicated to the third king of Bhutan and Buddha statue, Takin Zoo where you will find national animal of Bhutan the Takin, National Library and Folk Heritage Museum.
  • In the afternoon take a short walk to Handicraft Bazaar to view the traditional.
  • Later spend some time at the Clock tower square for shopping.
  • Overnight at Thimphu.

Day three Thimphu – Punakha via Dochula pass (1 Night) (Approx 77 km 3 hours drive)

  • This morning drive to low lands of Punakha valley touching Dochula pass 10,000 ft and on the stop at Hongtsho village.
  • Stop at the immigration check point to stamp in your permit.
  • You will be driving through the first mountain pass in the western part of Bhutan.
  • You will find the 108 Druk Wangyal chortens on the top of the pass where the ridges are draped in colorful prayer flags greet you.
  • Stop at Lamperi and visit the Royal Botanical Park for 30 minutes.
  • Proceed down towards Punakha.
  • On the way stop and take a short walk through the villages to Chimmi Lhakhang – The divine madman also known, as Drukpa Kinley is a famous teacher with whom the phallic symbol is associated.
  • Tales told by your guide would have excited you to visit Chimmi Lhakhang.
  • Japanese and several American couples visited this temple and were blessed miraculously with children.
  • Check in the hotel.
  • Afternoon visit majestic Punakha Dzong placed strategically at the junction of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers, the dzong was built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to serve as the religious and administrative seat of the region. It was here that the dual system of government was introduced in the 17th century and in 1907, enthroned the first King Gongsar Ugyen Wangchuk.
  • Evening at leisure.
  • Overnight at Punakha.
  • Note: Restricted Area Permit is required to visit Punakha / Wangdue from Home Ministry of Bhutan. No charge will be applicable for this permit. Please bring 02 passport size photographs and Voter ID card or Passport of each person including child. This special permit will be given only after guest has entered Bhutan. Permits are not issued on Saturday, Sunday and Govt. holidays

Day Four Paro – Punakha – Paro (2 Nights) (Approx 145 km 4 hrs drive)

  • Morning drive to Thimphu via same road and stop at Lamperi.
  • Visit the Royal Botanical Park for 30 minutes.
  • If you are lucky you could see red pandas, different species of birds, you can take some photo shot close to the natural lake.
  • You could watch a short documentary about the park. Proceed to Paro via Semtokha and check in the hotel.
  • Day at leisure.
  • Overnight at Paro.

Day Five Paro sightseeing

  • Morning visit Paro Dzong, the National Museum housed in a round fortress called as the Ta Dzong considered to be one of the best natural history museums in Asia where it has a fine collection of natural and historic artifacts.
  • Kyichu Lhakhang the monastery dates back to 7th century and is one of the oldest and most sacred.
  • Afternoon visit the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, a 17th century fortress that used to keep invaders from Tibet and in 1951 the fort was destroyed by fire.
  • Your last stop for the day will be at the base of the Tigers Nest.
  • Evening visit the town for leisure or shopping.
  • Overnight at Paro.

Day Six Paro – Hometown

  • After breakfast proceed to Paro Airport to board flight to your hometown
  • Tour Concludes
